Project Sponsor

Kristen Baldwin, Deputy Director for Systems Analysis in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, is the principal sponsor of this effort. Her sponsorship is a direct recognition of the challenges faced by both defense contractors and the federal acquisition workforce.

Professional Society Sponsorship

The IEEE Computer Society (IEEE CS) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) have indicated that they support the GSwE2009 effort. Both organizations had a representative on the Curriculum Author Team: Lillian "Boots" Cassel represented the ACM and Greg Hislop represented the IEEE CS. Both organizations are currently reviewing proposals to sponsor version 1 of GSwE2009 and to take stewardship of the document in future.

Professional Society Endorsements

International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE). INCOSE's mission is "to advance the state of the art and practice of systems engineering in industry, academia, and government by promoting interdisciplinary, scalable approaches to produce technologically appropriate solutions that meet societal needs." The organization recognizes the synergism between Software and Systems Engineering. INCOSE is represented on the Author Team by Ricardo Valerdi and Rick Adcock.

National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Systems Engineering Division. NDIA's mission is to "advocate cutting-edge technology and superior weapons, equipment, training, and support for the war-fighter and first-responder." NDIA recognizes that all complex systems to support these aims require complex software integration and support. NDIA is represented on the Author Team by Gary Hafen.

Brazilian Computer Society (SBC). SBC's mission is to be a scientific and educational organization dedicated to the advancement of Computer Science and the associated technologies and applications in Brazil. SBC is a leading forum for researchers, students, and computer professionals working in the vairous fields of Computer Science and Information Technology, being the largest comptuer society in South America. SBC is represented on the Author Team by Guilherme Horta Travassos.
